'Double Gold' awarded to Ogden's Own Distillery for Underground Herbal Spirit at 2010 World Spirit Competition


OGDEN, UT, April 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ogden's Own Distillery won a Double Gold Award at the 2010 San Francisco World Spirits Competition held March 13 and 14.

"It's a real honor to be recognized by so many industry experts," Owner Tim Smith said. "Being new to the market, this is the first competition we've entered. And to win at such a prestigious competition-we are thrilled!"

In its 10th year, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition is the world's most respected competition. A Double Gold represents a Gold Award being given from each of a panel of the representing the competition's 30 judges from the spirits industry.


"Underground which has a kinship with some other recognizable drinks," Smith explained. "Uzo, absinthe, Jagermeister—but Underground is different in many ways."

Weighing in at 40% alcohol by volume (80 proof), Underground is an herbal bitter designed to be served as an ice-cold shot, but tastes smooth as a mixed shooter, on the rocks, and in any number of other blends.
